Control Room Bundle
Sound Engineer's Selection
About the Control Room Bundle
The Control Room Bundle is the set an engineer reaches for without thinking: one channel strip, one compressor, one preamp with a tube in it, and one plate reverb. Four plug-ins that between them handle most of what a session actually needs, chosen for breadth rather than for sharing a theme.
The everyday four
Edelweiss`72 is the mixing and mastering channel strip, the plug-in that goes on a track first and often does enough on its own. KH-COMP1 is the signature compressor developed with Koen Heldens, for the moment a source needs controlling rather than colouring. OmniTec-67A brings the tube: it's modelled on the Altec 1567A, the early-1960s mixer with the green plate and 97 dB of gain, and it's what you use when a sterile source needs to sound like it was recorded somewhere. RO-140 is the EMT 140 plate, the reverb that has been the studio default since 1957.
Four jobs, four tools
Most bundles group by category: all the compressors, all the EQs. This one spans four different jobs instead, so a session can go from raw track to rough mix without leaving the set. If you only ever buy one collection from us and you don't yet know which direction your work will take, this is the one that leaves the fewest gaps.
How they stack
Edelweiss`72 first, to set level and shape. KH-COMP1 after it, because compressing a tidied signal is easier than tidying a compressed one. OmniTec-67A wherever a source is technically fine and emotionally flat, which on a modern recording is more often than anyone admits. RO-140 on a send, not an insert. None of this is unusual, and that's the point: these are the four decisions you make on nearly every track.
Where to take it next
These four cover the decisions a normal session asks for. Two additions extend them naturally. Magnetite puts tape in front of the compressor, so peaks are already rounded by the time KH-COMP1 sees them, and the kit or the bus gets louder while staying open. The Reverb & Delay Bundle adds a spring and a tape echo beside the plate, which is what you want the moment a source should sound mechanical rather than expensive. Start here, then widen in whichever direction your work actually goes.
Control Room Bundle Features
Authentic circuit emulation
Our real time SPICE type component based circuit simulation approach allows to authentically capture the sound and feel of the analog counterpart in all nuances. All crucial parts of the original circuits including audio transformers, tube stages or passive filter networks have been faithfully modeled.
SSE2 optimized code
DSP operations are pipelined using the SSE2 instruction set. This ensures the highest possible performance operation despite very complex computations.
Auto-adjusted oversampling for maximum audio transparency
Aliasing artifacts are efficiently attenuated using a low latency linear phase Dolph-Chebyshev poly-phase design. The oversampling is auto-adjusted to your session‘s sample rate to save valuable CPU power while offering the most transparent sound possible.
HighDPI / Retina support
All our plug-Ins support high pixel density on Mac OSX and Windows to bring you the most enjoyable user experience on high DPI displays. Please refer to your manual to find whether your DAW is HighDPI capable if you‘re working on Windows.
