Overview

Magnetite is our homage to the sound of magnetic tape recorders. Simply dial in the desired amount of saturation and warmth using the recording gain knob and Magnetite will add the analog tape sonics that you're looking for to your mixes.
Huge drums, distorted loops, saturated vocals, you name it - let Magnetite breathe new life into your tracks. We recommend using Magnetite as the first insert of your chain, just as if your signals were recorded to tape. You can, of course, put it into different spots if you're going for creative effects.

Features

Authentic sound

We put a lot of thought and work into emulating all the sonic aspects associated with analog tape: Class A recording and playback amplifiers, tape response and saturation, NAB pre- and de-emphasis EQs, the sonic effect of different tape speeds and bias levels, hiss and hum - it's all there. We also added an adjustable wow and flutter feature that emulates frequency modulation (FM) due to motor speed fluctuations.

SSE2 optimized code

DSP operations are pipe-lined using the SSE2 instruction set. This ensures highest possible performance operation despite very complex computations.

Auto-adjusted oversampling for maximum audio transparency

Aliasing artifacts are efficiently attenuated using a low latency linear phase Dolph-Chebyshev poly-phase design. The oversampling is auto adjusted to your session‘s sample rate to save valuable CPU power while offering the most transparent sound possible.

HighDPI / Retina support

All our plug-Ins support high pixel density on Mac OSX and Windows to bring you the most enjoyable user experience on high DPI displays. Please refer to your manual to find whether your DAW is HighDPI capable if you‘re working on Windows.

A SUPERB PLUGIN by Michael Warren (2025-10-09)

"I have tried quite a few tape emulators, but the Magnetite will always be in my 'go to' list. It can be subtle for that gentle 'warm' sound, or it can be driven to add life and energy. If I want a drum bus to have a bit of punch and definition, crank it up and the precision will be instantly obvious."

Top tier by Francisco Gómez (2025-10-09)

"This plugin sounds really amazing, it gives your audio the exact amount of saturation that goog-old tape machines could, cool!"

Excellent tape emulation. by Colin M Mansfield (2025-10-09)

"I recorded with tape for at least 30 years -- my first demos were recorded on a Revox in 1970 (in my living room). I love the sound of Magnetite; it adds that little something missing from digital recordings."

Sounds Like Tape by David Beneke (2025-10-09)

"Has the compression and vibe of real tape. Tames the transients and siblance!"

5
My Go-To Tape Saturator by Dave Johnson (2025-10-09)

"This plugin is always on my guitar chains. I don't push into it hard, but it gives a nice low-mid thickness and color to my guitars. I use it on synths and keys also and it adds some subtle vibe and movement, especially when you add a little wow/flutter. Hold down the Option key as you drive the input and it will link the output, so it's gain-matched. Magnetite has all the flavors you need and is tough to beat."

Genial by Marsan (2025-10-09)

"Me gusta este plugin para usarlo en las cajas. Para limar los transitorios. "
