Overview

Black Rooster Audio is proud to present the Vintage Mix bundle. Inspired by some of the most renowned compressors and EQs from the 1950s thru the 1970s, these selected emulations will bring an authentic retro vibe into your DAW, no matter if you apply them to single instrument tracks or on busses.

About the VLA-2A

After many hours of hard work, calculus and matching we finally bring you the VLA-2A plug-in. We have put all our knowledge, engineering skill and heart into designing the most authentic native emulation of this unit to this date. We love to use the VLA-2A on drums, but it also performs outstandingly well on bass or vocals and carefully adjusting the compression really helps to make your signals shine and just sit in the mix.

About the VLA-3A

Our VLA-3A plug-in, one of the most authentic native emulations of its analog brother from the 70s, is our goto-compressor for vocals, but it also works incredibly well for bringing out the ambience on percussive material and helping to put some glue into your mixes.

About the VHL-3C

Built around a cascade of two constant-K filters the VHL-3C‘s analog counterpart - a sought-after processor from the early 1950s - comprises an entirely passive design with very musical and interactive pass filters. Offering 3 simple and intuitive controls, the VHL-3C allows you to effectively remove rumble, hum or harsh frequencies from your signals. Set both filter knobs to their extreme positions and you‘ll end up with a narrow telephone-line bandpass. „So what?“, you may wonder - Black Rooster Audio is giving away this goodie for FREE!

About the VEQ-5

inspired by one of the most famous and renowned equalizers in studio history - focussing on the power range frequencies from 200Hz to 7kHz it is aimed at cleaning up and sweetening vocals. But it also does a great job on guitars and keys.

About the VEQ-1P

The equalizer allows gentle manipulation of extremely high and low frequencies, without actually harming the mids. The interactive filter network, that features boost and cut at the same time, will give the users multiple options of how to treat the shelf frequency, in a manner that is very musical and most other equalizers are not capable of achieving.

Features

Authentic circuit emulation

Our real time SPICE type component based circuit simulation approach allows to authentically capture the sound and feel of the analog counterpart in all nuances. All crucial parts of the original circuits including audio transformers, tube stages or passive filter networks have been faithfully modeled.

SSE2 optimized code

DSP operations are pipelined using the SSE2 instruction set. This ensures the highest possible performance operation despite very complex computations.

Auto-adjusted oversampling for maximum audio transparency

Aliasing artifacts are efficiently attenuated using a low latency linear phase Dolph-Chebyshev poly-phase design. The oversampling is auto-adjusted to your session‘s sample rate to save valuable CPU power while offering the most transparent sound possible.

HighDPI / Retina support

All our plug-Ins support high pixel density on Mac OSX and Windows to bring you the most enjoyable user experience on high DPI displays. Please refer to your manual to find whether your DAW is HighDPI capable if you‘re working on Windows.
